The Cybercab
Have you heard about the Cybercab? Here is what it is. The Cybercab is a recent creation projected to change our transport system in time to come. Literally, two words can be deciphered: the first is cyber and the other cab.
The prefix cyber relates to computers, information technology, and virtual reality. Cyber ordinarily means the internet or something connected to the internet. Cab, on the other hand, is a type of vehicle designed to transport people, cargo, or both to various destinations. Therefore, when both words are combined, the meaning derived is a cab that is internet-based or connected to the internet or advanced information technology.
The Cybercab is also known as the Tesla Cybercab because it is manufactured by Tesla, Inc., owned by the world’s richest man, Elon Musk. The Tesla Cybercab is also known as the Robotaxi. This means that the IT cab is built with robotic technology. This Tesla-owned creation was designed by American automotive designer Franz von Holzhausen.
The Cybercab is a vehicle that has neither a steering wheel nor pedals. It is said to be a vehicle that will be self-driving. It is a battery-electric car with two butterfly doors and a very attractive exterior design. It is creatively designed to carry just two passengers at a time. The Robotaxi will be fully autonomous, representing a massive technological innovation.
It was unveiled by the CEO of Tesla, Inc., Elon Musk, in October 2024, at the announcement event. During the event, attendees were elated when they were offered short rides. It was a beautiful sight to behold, seeing self-driving cars hit the road.
As revealed during its unveiling, the Robotaxi has a two-door sedan body style. Its battery is 35 kWh, with an electric range of 200 mi (320 km). The production vehicle design is said to include inductive charging. It has no side-view mirrors, rear window, external charge port, or door handles. The doors open automatically for riders to hop in, and there is also a hatchback opening for cargo.
This high-tech invention is indeed one of the greatest ideas ever realized in the 21st century. Progressively, it is still under development, steadily moving towards full deployment.
